Hosted by Carole Murko, a culinary artist and public-radio personality, HEIRLOOM MEALS' THANKSGIVING explores America's diverse culinary history with the goal of preserving tried-and-true recipes and dining traditions. Shot in scenic Stockbridge, Mass., the one-hour special weaves together heartwarming stories to help viewers connect with their own memories of this beloved national holiday. A direct descendant of the Pilgrims, a newly minted citizen, a Midwestern housewife, a Southern gentleman, an Italian grandmother and other guests share their treasured family recipes and explain what makes the holiday so special. Recipes include: cranberry-stuffed acorn squash, Brazilian cheese rolls, chipotle-spiced pumpkin pie, an innovative and tasty preparation for roast turkey, plus wine recommendations for a Thanksgiving table. Carole Murko is a culinary artist and interior designer currently decorating James Taylor's home. She also hosts a local, weekly radio show, Heirloom Meals, which served as the inspiration for this special. Murko seeks to preserve the tradition of heritage foods/recipes by delving into the rich and diverse cultural food histories of the United States and pay tribute to the dying art of cooking from scratch.
