We use Mesquite, NV, as the base and starting point of this trip. Joining us on this trip is our good friend and longtime guide, Alvin McLane.
Great Basin National Park
This trip features Great Basin National Park. Located in the eastern Nevada, the park offers a variety of activities and experiences. Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge
This trip takes hosts Dave and Alvin McLane north to the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge covers more than 570,000 acres of Nevada and acts as home to a variety of species. Stretching across most of the northwestern corner of the state, Sheldon attracts lovers of wildlife, hunters, and, since the early 20th Century, opal miners.
Using Wells, NV as a base, we explore some of the scenic and historic attractions nearby. We begin with a walking tour of historic Wells. Then, we visit the ghost towns of Metropolis to the north. We stop at Angel Lake before visiting the Ruby Mountain Brewery. And we end out trip by exploring the Spruce Mountain Mining District with author Shawn Hall.
