Create TV programs receive awards for Best Television Food Show and Best Television Food Segment by the James Beard Foundation.
BOSTON (June 9, 2008) -- The James Beard Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that celebrates America's culinary heritage, presented its highest honors to two public television programs featured on Create TV at the 2008 Broadcast Media Awards last weekend in New York City. The annual awards honor chefs, wine consultants, journalists and cookbook authors for their achievements in the culinary arts.
Winner for Best Television Food Program, National or Local is Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie -- the international, entertaining series that uncovers the latest cutting-edge food trends, must-use ingredients, kitchen gadgets and food destinations. This is the second time in the series' brief history that is has been recognized with a prestigious James Beard Award; the program was awarded Best National Television Food Show for its 2007 premiere season Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie is distributed nationally by American Public Television.
In addition, the award for Best Television Food Segment, National or Local went to The Victory Garden for its food segment hosted by chef Michel Nischan -- who is committed to local, organic food cultivation and preparation. The Victory Garden, one of the longest-running gardening series on public television, provides gardeners with the latest trends plus tried and true techniques to help get their gardens growing. The Victory Garden is distributed nationally by PBS.
