Create™ TV Channel Celebrates Irish Heritage, Canada, And More Fun Themes On Saturdays In March!:
Create’s themed Saturday marathons showcase America’s most popular how-to, cooking, gardening, arts & crafts and travel series this March; channel premieres unique new travel series.Boston (Feb. 15, 2009) – Many of America’s favorite public television personalities will be featured in themed marathons on Saturdays throughout March on Create™ TV. The channel, a unique destination for many of television’s highest-rated lifestyle series, showcases six-hour marathons of episodes focusing on different themes weekly.
This month’s marathons will feature travel, arts & crafts, and cooking themes, including “O Canada” (March 7), “Luck ‘O’ the Irish” (March 14), “Moment of Luxury” (March 21) and “Ladies of Leisure” (March 28).
"O Canada" – March 7
Create heads to the Great White North this Saturday, exploring the cuisine, culture and destinations of Canada. World travelers Darley Newman, Burt Wolf, George Bauer and Joseph Rosendo take viewers on a journey to visit the vast country’s greatest hot spots, including Quebec, Ontario, Vancouver and Toronto.
"Luck ‘O’ the Irish" – March 14
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Create is taking a tour of the Emerald Isle. Travelers Rick Steves, Rudy Maxa and Burt Wolf tour the sites of Ireland by conventional means, while Darley Newman embarks on a horseback trek of the country in a special episode of Equitrekking.
"Moment of Luxury" – March 21
Viewers will learn how to bring elegant, affordable style into their homes in this Create marathon. Interior designer Bill Stubbs will guide viewers as he travels around the globe, showing them how to recreate the world’s grand luxuries at a fraction of the cost.
"Ladies of Leisure" – March 28
The “ladies” of Create explore some of America’s favorite hobbies during this marathon, including sewing, cooking, traveling, gardening and crafting. Viewers will get simple tips for beautifying their homes from Katie Brown, Vicki Payne and Sloan Rutter. They’ll also learn how to combine great cooking with fascinating travel destinations from Lidia Bastianich, Julia Child, and Daisy Martinez and discover the artists’ techniques for painting and sewing with Donna Dewberry and Nancy Zieman.
The unique new travel series Africa Trek, distributed by APT, will premiere on Create TV in March. The series features husband and wife travelers Alexandre and Sonia Poussin as they travel on foot across Africa, from Cape Town to Jerusalem, symbolically retracing the human migration of three million years ago. Their exhausting physical and emotional journey, taking place over the course of three years, is captured in this 12-part series. Africa Trek will air on Create Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning March 25.
More than 200 public television stations – representing 80% of U.S. TV households – carry Create TV nationwide. Create is produced and distributed by APT, WNET.org, and WGBH Boston in association with NETA and PBS. Viewers can watch Create TV via digital broadcast and/or basic digital cable.
